Yesterday I woke up at 6:30 am to get ready for the day. However, it was unlike any other day in my life. I went through the apartment with my wife putting together the last few boxes before the movers arrived. It was a strange feeling, to know that only a few hours later 99% of our possessions were going to be on a moving truck bringing them to our new home 300 miles away.
Most Wednesdays I get up in the morning, help get the kids ready for school, get ready for work, listen to Mike and Mike in the morning and head out to the office by 9:00 am. Instead, I woke up and packed, had breakfast and signed papers giving permission for the movers to take our stuff away.
This morning I woke up on an air mattress, said good-bye to my wife as she leaves to meet the movers at our new place on Friday and head off to work. It is not an ordinary day.
I understand that extraordinary things come when we follow God’s call. My family has been on a journey this past year, a journey for new health, new life and now a new calling. This journey has not been easy but it has been what we need to live fully into what God is calling us to do. There have been tears, there have been heartache and it pains me to see that this can happen to my family. But in the end I know that we are going to be stronger for it. In the end we are going to be eating better, exercising more, and living closer to family that means so much to us.
So as God puts our life together, sometimes it may seem like a patchwork, sometimes it may seem strange, sometimes it may seem like things are not going to work out. However, I believe that as we pray and ask God for God’s plan we will see the blessings that he has given us and we will see the extraordinary things around us.
