In this sermon Pastor Joe explores these ideas:

  • How did you first encounter Jesus?  Was it some deep theological statement?  Was it a Bible story?  Or was it an experience that let you know that Jesus loves you?
  • When we experience the love of God our life changes.  From that first moment to hear, listen and learn that Jesus loves us – then as we get older we learn the stories of faith – the wonderful stories of creation, God saving God’s people again and again and then the birth, life, death and resurrection, and finally what the start of the church means for us today.

  • Our faith would be so much easier if God would just do what what we want God to do, to cast aside the people we think don’t deserve God’s love and grace, to give us miracles when we need to see them.  But that’s not what God does, because God is full of surprises.
